Wallets connected to major centralized exchange platforms like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.investx.fr\/en\/crypto-news\/binances-bnb-hit-1000-2030\/\">Binance<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong>OKX <\/strong>reportedly heavily shorted <strong>JELLY<\/strong>, causing a temporary <strong>80% price drop.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hyperliquid just got exploited. What happened?<br><br>A trader deposited $7.167M on 3 separate Hyperliquid accounts within 5 minutes of each other. He then made leveraged trades on an illiquid coin, JELLYJELLY.<br><br>However, he ended up losing money, and is down almost $1M unless\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uNyMwLS5Sc\">pic.twitter.com\/uNyMwLS5Sc<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Arkham (@arkham) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arkham\/status\/1905003319069688095?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 26, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At its peak, this <strong>manipulation <\/strong>exposed <strong>Hyperliquid&#8217;s <\/strong>integrated <strong>market-making<\/strong> protocol (HLP) to over <strong>$12 million<\/strong> in potential losses on these short positions. Such a loss could have rendered the platform insolvent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, Hyperliquid acted swiftly by <strong>delisting the JELLY token<\/strong> and closing the at-risk positions. Despite a brief dip in its HYPE token to below <strong>$13,<\/strong> the platform survived this large-scale speculative attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"binance-and-okx-accomplices-or-competitors\"><strong>Binance and OKX : Accomplices or Competitors ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While chaos unfolded on Hyperliquid, the two giants <strong>Binance and OKX<\/strong> surprisingly announced on their respective platforms the <strong>listing <\/strong>of perpetual futures contracts for&#8230; the <strong>JELLY token<\/strong>! A rather suspicious coincidence fueling speculations of a coordinated <strong>attack<\/strong> aimed at toppling Hyperliquid, now an essential <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.investx.fr\/en\/crypto-news\/top-defi-cryptocurrencies-buy-march-2025\/\">DEX<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ZachXBT<\/strong>, a blockchain sleuth, traced the origins of the manipulation to two wallets. These wallets received funds from <strong>Binance, OKX,<\/strong> as well as other platforms like <strong>MEXC and Bybit,<\/strong> just before launching their assault on JELLY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Interesting that Binance publicly supports Bybit after the $1B hack but actively sought to wreck Hyperliquid via Jelly listing<\/p>&mdash; Jason Choi (@mrjasonchoi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mrjasonchoi\/status\/1904925169489215839?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 26, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s interesting to note that while <strong>Binance <\/strong>publicly supports <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.investx.fr\/en\/crypto-news\/north-korea-top-bitcoin-holder-lazarus-bybit-hack\/\">Bybit<\/a> after the $1 billion hack, it actively sought to destroy Hyperliquid by listing Jelly.\u201d stated Jason Choi, VC and co-founder of Tangent Capital.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Another coincidence? Or a real collusion among major players in the industry to try and <strong>eliminate a disruptive decentralized <\/strong>rival challenging their model? After this scandal, distrust towards large centralized platforms is certainly warranted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This incident exemplifies how some entities are willing to engage in a <strong>ruthless war<\/strong> within the <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/\">crypto <\/a>space. The neutrality and transparency of <strong>DEXes <\/strong>like <strong>Hyperliquid <\/strong>are becoming <strong>crucial <\/strong>in the face of traditional monopolies.
