According to revelations from the renowned blockchain analyst ZachXBT, over <strong>$46 million<\/strong> has been stolen this month through a series of scams targeting the platform&#8217;s clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">ZachXBT: It is suspected a Coinbase user was scammed yesterday for $34.9M (400.099 BTC). Also multiple other suspected thefts from Coinbase users in the past two weeks bringing the total stolen this month to $46M+. Funds from each theft were bridged from Bitcoin to Ethereum via\u2026<\/p>&mdash; Wu Blockchain (@WuBlockchain) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WuBlockchain\/status\/1905611925356163335?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 28, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The most significant of these frauds led to the theft of <strong>400,099 <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/buy\/bitcoin\/\">bitcoins<\/a><\/strong>, amounting to <strong>$34.9 million<\/strong>. The stolen funds were then transferred to <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/buy\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> and converted into <strong>DAI<\/strong>, a stablecoin, to conceal their origin. ZachXBT was able to trace these suspicious transactions through his expertise in blockchain analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">1\/ Over the past few months I imagine you have seen many Coinbase users complain on X about their accounts suddenly being restricted. <br><br>This is the result of aggressive risk models and Coinbase\u2019s failure to stop its users losing $300M+ per year to social engineering scams. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PjtX7vmjqc\">pic.twitter.com\/PjtX7vmjqc<\/a><\/p>&mdash; ZachXBT (@zachxbt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zachxbt\/status\/1886411879939031530?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 3, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, this is not the first time <strong>Coinbase <\/strong>has faced such attacks. In a previous investigation, the analyst had already highlighted the theft of <strong>$65 million<\/strong> between December 2024 and January 2025. He estimates that the platform is dealing with a real problem of <strong>frauds<\/strong> through &#8220;social engineering,&#8221; amounting to nearly <strong>$300 million a year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-end-of-coinbase\"><strong>The End of Coinbase ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What particularly concerns ZachXBT is the <strong>lack of response from Coinbase<\/strong> to these successive waves of scams.
